What sets us apart

What makes a truly great fish restaurant?

The best fish restaurant isn't the one with the longest menu, but the one that respects the produce. At l'Estéou, everything starts with freshness: the selection follows the morning's catch landed at the Pointe Rouge port, never frozen, and every fish is cooked just right to reveal its flavour.

Sea bream, sea bass, John Dory, red mullet or octopus: the menu changes with the sea. Grilled on the plancha, as tartare, carpaccio or whole in the oven, the fish is prepared simply, with olive oil and southern herbs as its only companions.

Why l'Estéou

Three reasons to make it your fish table in Marseille

1

The day's catch

Fish and seafood landed fresh at the Pointe Rouge port: the menu follows the sea, for produce at its very best.

2

Precise cooking

Plancha, oven, raw or grilled over fire: each fish is cooked with precision to preserve its texture and taste.

3

The sea view

A terrace facing the Mediterranean at sunset, so the setting matches the plate.

On the menu

From whole fish to seafood, the sea in every form

People come to l'Estéou for a whole fish presented at the table, a seafood platter to share or a fresh tuna tartare plated to order. The menu of the sea shifts with the deliveries: grills, platters, raw preparations — all designed to put the produce first.

To take the journey further, the house adds its Marseille classics — bouillabaisse, fish soup and aïoli — made the traditional way, to enjoy unhurried, a glass of white Cassis in hand.

A Pointe Rouge address

The sea on the plate, the sea before your eyes

Set at 1 Avenue de la Pointe Rouge, a few metres from the port, l'Estéou owes its reputation to its setting as much as to its cooking. Here the fish comes from the neighbouring quay and you dine almost with your feet in the water, in the spirit of a Marseille cabanon where the sea and the table are one.
